Default Elevating buildings

Hello!

I'm trying to create a 3D elevation from two different files, one of landscape and the other of buildings. However, I'm having some problems with the file that contains the information of buildings' heights (in .dwg format). When I click 'Open control center' and I select 'Create elevation grid from 3D vector data', I obtain what is shown in the attached image (obviously not what I expected). Somebody could tell me the reason? How can I obtain the right elevation of the buildings? If it serves for something, the .dwg file is obtained with AutoCAD. Thanks!

Oliver

Oliver,

Can you provide the DWG file in question so that I can take a look? Also, when generating the elevation grid, are you choosing the option to flatten areas (assuming the building are area features)?

Thanks,

Mike

Mike,

Yes, I choosed the option to flatten areas. I send you the DWG file. I think it's ok but maybe I comitted an error in AutoCAD and the elevation information isn't on it (however, I doubt it).

Thank you,

Oliver

Oliver,

Your elevation data was in there right, but you also had some other features with 0 or other elevations that was causing what you were seeing. To fix this, go to the Vector Display tab of the Configuration dialog and turn off point and line display, then generate your elevation grid (make sure to check the 'Flatten Areas' option and also the one to ignore zero elevations). Once that is done you can turn your points and lines back on.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Thanks,

Mike

Mike,

Thank you very much for your answer, it was very useful. Could I know why the point and lines spoiled so much the elevation grid? Anyway, thanks!

Oliver,

What exactly do you mean? You can try reducing the grid sample spacing to get a more detailed layer from your DWG-based elevation grid. Perhaps this will get the results that you are after.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Thanks,

Mike
