How to cut area features from other area?
Toni Heimala
Global Mapper User
I have a shape file a.shp that has several areas (Field, Lake, Marsh, Sand Area, Swamp, etc) which I would like to cut from another shape file b.shp that has only one area (Forest) so that I end up with areas from Forest shape file b.shp but with the features of the other shape file a.shp cut from it. After this I would like to export this resulting set of areas into KML.
How can I achieve this with Global Mapper?

You could use a Global Mapper script file (see http://globalmapper.com/helpv12/ScriptReference.html) and use the EXPORT_VECTOR command to export a new KML file and the POLYGON_CROP_FILE and POLYGON_CROP_USE_EACH=YES parameter to specify to crop to the areas in some other file and to create a separate export for each input area feature.
Thanks,
Mike
