Exporting KML "island" polygons to Google Earth and grouping regions

I have polygon shapefiles that have numerous "islands" eg. separated features, in them and are classified into various regions (attribute table). I am exporting to a KML file and loading into Google Earth. Google Earth displays separate area features in the table of contents as individual polygons within the same region.
Is there a way to export shapefile to KML/KMZ in GM so that the features stay grouped and once loaded into Google Earth, the symbology or colour can be changed as a group instead of by individual polygons?
Thanks!

If you can add a KML_FOLDER attribute to your features with the desired value to break out your features into separate folders in the KML file then Global Mapper will use that to separate your features into groups on export.
Let me know if I can be of further assistance.
Thanks,
Mike
