I want to convert a 32mb dgn file to shp. When I attempt this I get...

Unable to load overlay all.dgn
Out of memory
OverlayFactory.cpp-2339
Build Time Sept 16 2009 23:30:08

Any suggestions?

    Try this:

    1. Do not load the file on GlobalMapper, just open GlobalMapper
    2. Choose file - batch convert/reproject
    3. Input: DGN
    4. Output: Shape
    5. Select the inputfile and correct settings
    6. OK

    I still get an error.

Error converting from file K:\OSP\LandBases\AllCounties2009\all.dgn to file
    Unable to load overlay all.dgn
    Out of memory.
    OverlayFactory.cpp - 2339

    1. First I would recommend to download the lastest patch for GlobalMapper (http://www.globalmapperforum.com/forums/bug-report/4465-latest-global-mapper-11-build.html) - this is just to check that it is not a bug in GlobalMapper that have already been fixed.

    2. Then you can open the Task Manager (CTRL-ALT-DEL, select Task Manager and find the tab showing amount of RAM used)

    3. Repeat the steps in previous post and notice how much RAM is being used before the crash by GlobalMapper?

If it still crashes, I guesss you have to little memory? How much RAM do you have installed?

If you try the latest patch build and it doesn't work, can you tell me if you are using the 32-bit or 64-bit version of Global Mapper? We only recently added 64-bit DGN support (i.e. about a week ago) and have found that it has problems loading some DGN files. The 32-bit builds had that problem as well with the latest library so I rolled them back to the previously used version that worked fine.

    Thanks,
