Cropping features leaves duplicate vertices

Hello GM Support,

When cropping line features to a selected area feature, the resulting cropped feature has duplicate vertices at all original vertices except the endpoints when selecting "Mark Cropped Features Deleted" and "Keep Data Outside Area(s) Rather than Inside". I'm using GM16.12 b080115 64-bit. To recreate the bug draw an area feature and a line intersecting the area. Select the area and crop using the selections above.

Thanks for looking at it.

David

I recommend first getting the latest release of Global Mapper. If the problem persists in the latest release, then you should send an e-mail describing your workflow, your sample data, and the results to Blue Marble Geographics support (geohelp@bluemarblegeo.com). This will ensure that the support team sees the problem and can determine the solution. Thank you.

    Hello bmg_bob,

I'm not sure how much newer I can get. I posted my bug report on 1 Aug with a 080115 build. The workflow as stated in my first email is:

    - Draw an area feature
    - Draw a line feature intersecting the area
    - Select the area and choose to crop using "Mark Cropped Features Deleted" and "Keep Data Outside Area(s) Rather than Inside"

    No data is required.

  • Hello dcoggin,

I am unable to recreate this issue, I create a line and an area feature and then select the Area Feature with the Digitizer and right-click to access the Crop/Combine/Split Functions, selecting the option to 'CROP - Crop loaded feature(s) to Selected Areas...' and then selecting the options 'Mark Cropped Features Deleted' and 'Keep Data Outside Area(s) Rather than Inside'.

My new/cropped line(s) do have an added vertex for each line, falling on either side of the selected Area Feature, where the Area/Line Feature intersection took place. This is expected, as a new vertex would be needed to end the new line(s) and complete the crop. I added some additional vertices to the line, outside of the Area/Line Feature intersection and these were not duplicated.

Can you please confirm the workflow above is correct?

    Hello Jasmine,

Yes, that is the same workflow I was using and seeing the problem. I am seeing the problem on two different machines and two different, recent builds.

After cropping are you selecting the remaining cropped line, editing the line, and looking at the vertices? That's where I'm seeing the duplicate vertices. The endpoints are not duplicated, only the interior vertices.

    Hello Support,

    Any luck recreating this?

  • Hi David,

I have not been able to recreate the issue. Can you please contact application support directly at geohelp@bluemarblegeo.com so that we may log a support ticket for further testing?

    Hello Jasmine,

I just sent an email with a workspace to your support email. It's no different than the description above, but maybe it will help to debug it.

This was fixed with the 8/10/15 build.
